We know it's not always easy to holiday with your pet. Finding pet-friendly accommodation can be tough.
At Marina Cove we love dogs and offer dog friendly accommodation on a request basis. As the owners of a beautiful chocolate Labrador, we understand how enjoyable it is to travel with your much loved pooch.
Opua is a 3 hour hop from Auckland, not too long for your dog. From Marina Cove there is easy access to the doggy friendly Opua-Paihia coastal walkway or an easy 5 minute walk to English Bay or Lemons Bay. These popular beaches offer safe swimming and a lovely afternoon at the beach away from crowds.
Another option for dog walking is the 15 minute stroll (or a few minutes drive) to find yourself in the small community of Opua. Here you can enjoy a coffee or just sit and watch boats and the world go by. Many of the cafes in the region welcome dogs on a leash. The community-focused Opua Cruising Club is a perfect spot for a sunset drink or a great value meal with live music in the weekends.
Ask us about what time of year and which beaches you can let your dog run free, and when they'll need to be leashed. We do have a few rules for visiting dogs but will make you and your dog feel very welcome and part of the family.

Northland Ferries operate regular continuous daily ferry services.
Car ferry: Opua – Okiato – Opua 6:00am – 10:00pm
Passenger ferry: Paihia – Russell – Paihia 7:00am – 10:00pm

BBQ & cooking facilities
Your personal Weber BBQ and gas bottle on the deck is available to use free of charge. We offer BBQ utensils and all you’ll need to create a great BBQ meal. The Opua general store is just a few minutes drive or 20 minutes walk via the coastal track. You can purchase a variety of grocery items, quality meat suitable for the BBQ and fresh salad ingredients.
The larger grocery stores, Countdown and 4 Square are in central Paihia on the other side of town heading towards Kerikeri.
You are welcome to help yourself to fresh herbs from the Marina Cove garden.
Opua apartment offers an induction hob and a microwave for cooking. Okiato apartment offers microwave only.
